Welcome to the Hotel California

It was my mom’s first time taking the train and subway to LA today! It was spontaneous and an absolute blast! We got to see a lot of tourist-y things that she’s always wanted to experience. We got to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was our main reason of taking the trip. She took tons of photos of her favorite stars and then we decided to board a Hollywood tour!

We were also not anticipating the weather. It’s been pretty hot the past couple of days and I didn’t think today would be any different but man, were we proved wrong on this tour. We were on an open-top bus and the wind was super chilly. We got to see tons of celebrity homes, hotels, and monuments. Some of the homes included those of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, George Clooney, Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and many more! (Of course not all these celebrities live here today but we got to see where they lived at some point!)

We also explored around Beverly Hills, Sunset Blvd, Melrose Ave, Rodeo Drive, and the area surrounding the Hollywood Sign. Our driver was very well informed on what goes on in every day LA life.

We also got to see the Chinese Theatre, Pantages, El Capitan, and the studio where Jimmy Kimmel Live is broadcasted.

All in all, it was a fun trip exploring the big city that’s only about an hour away. Despite the fact that we live so close, it was cool to dive in and see the city the way an actual tourist would. We met some people visiting from France and Sweden, which was also pretty cool. There was also someone who was from Arcadia, CA so it just goes to show that we weren’t the only California natives exploring the city.

It was also really nice to have a mother daughter day out! Lately, it’s been feeling as if all I do is work work work and I never have time to see my family anymore. I don’t like that, at all. So I’m working on making sure I spend as much time with them as I can because I miss them all the time! It was fun and exciting showing my mom around LA and just getting to see how excited she was to see those stars on Hollywood Blvd.

It was a great day and I can’t wait for more to come this summer!
